Dictator can't be satisfied. Estonian officials name Russia's goal in war in Ukraine
Russia seeks a new European security order, aiming to dismantle the idea of sovereignty and create a Europe where its spheres of influence are once again restored. However, "it is impossible to satisfy a dictator by sacrificing the will of other nations and hoping for stability," according to the Foreign Minister of Estonia, Jonatan Vseviov, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"I can only refer to what the Russian leadership itself says. And it has said that it wants a new European security order, wants to eliminate the idea of sovereignty for those living on the borders of Russia, and create a Europe where their spheres of influence are restored," said Vseviov, responding to the question about the key goal of Russia in the war.
He said that Estonia "will not accept this proposal, just as we did not accept the so-called security agreements that Russia presented before February 24, 2022."
"We did not accept them even after they started the war. It is simply unacceptable because we know where this would lead if we agreed. It is impossible to satisfy a dictator by sacrificing the will of other nations and hoping for stability. We cannot do this, and we will not do it," added the Foreign Minister of Estonia.
Vseviov stressed that this is why they support Ukraine as much as possible - politically, economically, and militarily.
