Deputy sheriff’s son opens fire on Florida State University students - Incident details

The shooting at Florida State University in the US was carried out by the son of a deputy sheriff, who killed two people and injured four others. Police wounded the attacker, and he was hospitalized, according to Reuters.
Law enforcement officials believe the attacker was the son of a deputy sheriff from Leon County. It was also noted that he acted alone, and the motive behind the attack is currently unknown.
Authorities stated that the suspect had access to his mother's handgun, which was formerly her service weapon. The woman purchased the gun from the department, and it is now considered her personal firearm.
"Unfortunately, her son had access to one of her weapons that was found at the scene," Leon County Sheriff Walter McNeil said at the press conference.
The 20-year-old suspect, identified as Phoenix Ikner, was a student at Florida State University (FSU) in the state capital, Tallahassee, according to FSU Police Chief Jason Trumbower.

According to officials, the two people killed were not students. Meanwhile, Trumbower did not provide details about the four others who were shot and wounded.
Local authorities said police officers shot the armed man when he refused to surrender and took him into custody.
The four injured individuals, along with the shooter, were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
