Delicious homemade cream cheese with three ingredients only
Cream cheese is a soft dairy product with a pronounced creamy taste and aroma. Slightly salty, with a subtle cheesy tang, it is one of the most well-known and popular cheeses in the world. You don't necessarily need to buy it at the store, you can easily make it at home and save money, according to Ukrainian food blogger Dariia Doroshkevych.
Ingredients you will need:
- 30% sour cream
- Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Directions:
Make sure to layer four pieces of cheesecloth. In a pot, mix together sour cream, yogurt, lemon juice, and salt. Then, place a sieve over the pot and cover it with the cheesecloth. Pour the cheese mixture onto the cheesecloth and fold it over. Place a weight on top of this construction.
"You can use a stone as a weight, or you can place a plate with a water-filled jar on top. You can also reuse the cheesecloth," Doroshkevych advised.
Leave it in a cool place, such as a balcony, for 12 hours. Afterward, remove the weight and take out the cream cheese.
You'll get 350g of cream cheese from 300g of sour cream and 300g of yogurt.
