Defense forces deny Russian claims of breakthrough near Yunakivka in Sumy region

The Russian army did not enter Yunakivka in the Sumy region. Defense forces have denied the fake news spread by Russian media.
This was stated in a comment to RBC-Ukraine by Lieutenant Colonel Yaroslav Chepurnyi, senior officer of the communications center of the Kursk military group.
The information about the alleged capture of the village of Yunakivka in the Sumy region by Russian troops is not true.
"It is not true," Chepurnyi said regarding the accuracy of the information spread by the Russian side.
The night before, a Telegram channel linked to Russian media published a message claiming that Russian forces had entered Yunakivka. However, this information was not confirmed.
According to the DeepState combat map, Yunakivka remains under Ukrainian control, with the nearest settlements in the "gray" zone on this front being Novenke, Zhuravka, Veselivka, and Basivka.

Situation in Sumy region
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may be planning to capture Sumy and the Sumy region to create a buffer zone, but carrying out these plans will be difficult.
According to Ivan Tymochko, head of the Reserve Council of the Ground Forces, Russians do not have enough forces or resources for a large-scale offensive in the Sumy region. The enemy’s operations are currently at the level of strategic troop deployments.
