Death toll rises to 10 after Russian strike on civilian ship near Odesa

The death toll after Russia struck a civilian vessel near Odesa has risen to 10, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reported.
What happened near Odesa
Russian forces struck a commercial vessel flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau. The ship was leaving a Ukrainian port after loading corn.
There were 17 crew members on board — citizens of Syria and India. A pilot from the Delta-Pilot branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority was also on the vessel.
How many people were killed and rescued
Rescuers fought to save the sailors throughout the night. The fire on the vessel was brought under control.
- 8 crew members were rescued and taken ashore;
- 10 people were killed, including the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority pilot.
As RBC-Ukraine reported, on July 19, Russia attacked the GOLDEN LEO bulk carrier, which was carrying grain and sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau, with three cruise missiles.
Earlier, on July 17, the Russian military struck a vessel flying the flag of the Marshall Islands in the port of Odesa. Four crew members were injured and a fire broke out on the ship.
