Daily item that can cause headache revealed

A headache can be triggered by various, even unpredictable, external or internal factors, including perfumes. It is important to know which specific scents are best to avoid, according to the Daily Express website.
Why perfumes cause headaches
According to Dr. Lawrence Cunningham, perfumes are often overlooked as a cause of headaches.
"Strong smells, including perfumes, can activate nerve pathways in the nose and brain, potentially leading to a headache. This can be particularly true for those who are sensitive to chemical compounds found in many fragrances," the doctor explained.
Perfumes can trigger a response in the trigeminal nerve, which is responsible for sensations in the face and motor functions like biting and chewing.
Moreover, strong scents from household cleaning products, air fresheners, and even shampoos can also cause headaches. Household cleaning products, as well as perfumes and scented air fresheners, contain harmful chemicals.
If you are prone to headaches triggered by certain smells, avoid heavy perfumes and strongly scented soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. Use fragrance-free air fresheners and household cleaning products, and keep doors and windows open at home as much as possible.
How to avoid pain
Dr. Cunningham said that preventing headaches requires a tailored approach. Strong perfumes can play a role, but numerous stress factors can intensify the pain.
Teeth grinding during sleep can also cause pain in both the head and the jaw.
"I always recommend maintaining a regular sleep schedule and creating a restful sleep environment. This can significantly reduce the frequency of headaches," she added.
Staying hydrated is equally important, as many headaches can be alleviated simply by consuming enough water throughout the day. For those prone to headaches, regular exercise and stress-relief methods, such as yoga or meditation, can be beneficial.
"I also suggest keeping a headache diary to help identify and avoid potential triggers. For pain relief, over-the-counter medications can be effective, but it's essential to use them sparingly to avoid rebound headaches," the specialist explained.
