Court ordered Trump to pay over 80 million dollars in sexual assault case
The Federal Court in New York has ordered Donald Trump to pay $83.3 million in compensation to the writer and journalist E. Jean Carroll for defamation, according to CNN.
Former U.S. President must pay $83.3 million for public statements he made in 2019 when he forcefully denied allegations of attempting to rape E. Jean Carroll. It's worth noting that last spring, Trump was found liable for sexually assaulting the writer.
The jury decided that Trump should pay Carroll $18.3 million, with $11 million allocated for funding a reputation-restoration campaign and $7.3 million for emotional harm.
Additionally, Trump is required to pay a $65 million fine for his malicious actions in making statements about Carroll. The total amount exceeds what the writer initially sought by more than eight times.
