During a debate in the US state of Utah on September 10, influential far-right activist and Turning Point USA (TPUSA) executive director Charlie Kirk was shot, The Guardian reports.

Videos have circulated online showing an unknown individual shooting at Kirk during debates at the University of Utah.

According to a representative of the University of Utah, the wounded Kirk was taken out of the premises together with his security team, and the inner courtyard was cleared.

It is also reported that the unknown individual fired at Kirk from a neighboring building twenty minutes after he began his speech.

Charlie Kirk is an American political activist, blogger, and host of the podcast The Charlie Kirk Show. He is a supporter of Republican ideas and is known for his activities in defending conservative views, criticizing liberal ideas, and calling for an end to US financial assistance to Ukraine.

Trump's reaction

US President Donald Trump has already reacted to the incident.

"We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!" he wrote on his social network Truth Social.
