CIA Director John Ratcliffe has arrived in Moscow. A US military transport aircraft landed at Vnukovo Airport, after which a "US diplomatic motorcade" was seen traveling through the Russian capital, according to CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs.

According to flight-tracking service Flightradar24, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft landed in Russia after arriving from Riga.

Shortly after the aircraft landed, a convoy of vehicles bearing US diplomatic license plates was spotted in the Russian capital. Officials have not yet disclosed the purpose of the US delegation’s visit or the full list of passengers on board.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said the Kremlin had no information about the arrival of the US aircraft. According to Peskov, no meetings with representatives of the White House had been scheduled by the Russian leadership.

What happened before

Earlier today, a US military aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.

Real-time flight-tracking data showed that the aircraft was a US Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. Its registration number was also identified as RCH4555.

The aircraft that arrived in Russia had flown to Riga on August 23 from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland — the base used by aircraft carrying US President Donald Trump and other senior officials.
