China sharply criticizes the policies of US President Donald Trump, which, according to them, are bringing the world back to the "law of the jungle." According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, such approaches undermine the international order, CNN informs.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi sharply criticized US President Donald Trump's foreign policy on Friday, stating that a return to the "America First" principle could lead to the resurgence of the "law of the jungle" in international relations.

At a press conference in Beijing, Wang emphasized that if each country prioritizes its own interests above all else, it will undermine international norms and create chaos on the world stage.

"There are more than 190 countries in the world," noted the Chinese diplomat, adding that if all nations rely solely on power and selfishness, it is the weaker countries that will suffer first. This, in his opinion, would jeopardize the international order.

The statement was made amid the political climate where the US, under Trump's leadership, has been actively shifting its foreign policy. In contrast, Beijing aims to present itself as a stable partner and defender of international norms.

Wang Yi also sharply commented on Trump's actions regarding tariffs on Chinese imports, emphasizing that no country can simultaneously suppress China and maintain good relations with it. According to him, such an approach does not build trust between nations but only worsens bilateral relations.

"A big country should honor its international obligations and fulfill its due responsibilities. It should not put selfish interests before principles," said Wang, adding that China firmly opposes policies of power and hegemony.

His words marked another expression of Beijing's concerns about the aggressive foreign policy of the US, especially amid changing global alliances and growing tensions on the international stage.

Since Trump took office, the US has significantly altered its strategy, withdrawing from international agreements and questioning traditional alliances. China, on the other hand, is using this moment to advance its position as a reliable and responsible global leader.

Tariff increase

It should be noted that Beijing strongly opposes US pressure regarding tariffs, viewing Trump's policy towards China as hypocritical. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China will not tolerate blind pressure and will respond to it.

Wang Yi also criticized Trump for his bilateral approach, accusing him of using the fentanyl issue as a tool to pressure China while imposing tariffs on Chinese goods.

He stressed that the US cannot simultaneously suppress China and maintain good relations with it, as such contradictory actions do not contribute to the stability of bilateral ties.
