Chernihiv hit by massive Russian drone attack, homes burn and school damaged

Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Chernihiv on the night of April 19. There is already information about casualties and damaged buildings in the city, according to the Telegram channel of Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration.
"The city is under a massive enemy Shahed drone attack. Drone impacts have been recorded in the city," the statement said at 01:17 Kyiv time.
About half an hour later, Bryzhynskyi clarified that as a result of the drone strikes, two private houses caught fire, and an educational facility was damaged.
"There are casualties, information is being clarified," he added.
Attack on the Chernihiv region
Over the past few days, the Russian units have again begun shelling energy facilities and other infrastructure not only in the Chernihiv region.
In particular, on the night of April 18, the enemy attacked an energy facility in the Nizhyn district of the region. As a result, 380,000 subscribers were left without power.
The night before, on the night of the 17th, the enemy also damaged an energy facility in the region, leaving more than 6,000 families in Chernihiv and the surrounding area without electricity.
That same night, the Russian units struck the Chernihiv Thermal Power Plant (TPP), and by morning, it became known that the facility had suspended operations and the hot water supply had been cut off in the city.
