The Cherkasy region experienced one of the largest attacks today, April 28. In total, air defense forces managed to shoot down 15 drones, but there were also hits, according to the Telegram channel of Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.
According to Taburets, critical infrastructure was targeted.
As a result of the attack, a gas facility was damaged.
"Currently, part of the regional center (Cherkasy) and nearby villages are without a gas supply. All necessary services are working to eliminate the consequences as quickly as possible," he added.
Attacks on Cherkasy and the region
Around 8:30 a.m. Kyiv time, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about the movement of unmanned aerial vehicles toward Zolotonosha and Smila. By around 11 a.m., reports emerged about a drone over Cherkasy. At that time, local media reported that the city was attacked by at least a dozen drones.
As of 1:15 p.m., there were no reports of casualties.
Later, Cherkasy Mayor Anatolii Bondarenko reported that Russian forces had damaged an infrastructure facility in the city and urged residents to immediately turn off all gas appliances and refrain from using gas in private homes. He promised to provide more detailed information about the situation during the day.
