ChatGPT to be available for Windows users
OpenAI has announced the start of testing the preview version of ChatGPT for Windows, its AI-based chatbot platform, according to The Verge.
Innovation details
Like the Mac version of the app, ChatGPT on Windows allows you to ask questions to an AI-powered chatbot in a special window that you can keep open along with your other applications. You can quickly access it by using Alt+Space.
It also allows you to upload files and photos to ChatGPT and gives you access to the previous version of the OpenAI o1 model, which is capable of reasoning. However, the application still lacks some features, such as an advanced voice mode.
Shortly after OpenAI launched its ChatGPT app on Mac in June, the developer discovered a security vulnerability that allowed conversations to be saved as plain text. Since then, OpenAI has fixed the issue and now encrypts locally stored data.
Although only subscribers can use ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu on Windows, OpenAI says it plans to make it available to everyone this year.
Today, ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu users can start testing an early version of the Windows desktop app.
