Five people were injured in the massive strike on Kyiv, which also damaged residential and non-residential buildings, according to the mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that four people were injured in the Dnipro district, all of whom were hospitalized. In Darnytskyi district, two residential buildings were damaged, and firefighters battled a blaze in a non-residential structure.

In the Dnipro district, debris struck a three-storey office building, sparking a fire. A high-rise apartment building was also burning, and debris fell on the grounds of a kindergarten.

In Shevchenkivskyi district, a non-residential building was damaged, and a residential building caught fire. In the Solomianskyi district, a private house was set ablaze.

At 4:50 AM Kyiv time, the number of injured across the capital rose to five.

Russian forces launched a massive strike on Kyiv overnight on August 28, using attack drones and ballistic missiles. Beginning on the evening of August 27, large numbers of Shahed drones were tracked across Ukrainian airspace from several directions. Around 3:00 AM Kyiv time, Russia fired several ballistic missiles at the capital.
