A cargo plane bound for Changzhou, China, experienced an engine fire during takeoff in Ulan-Ude, Russia, according to the Baza Telegram channel.

"The cargo plane of Aerostar airline was scheduled to perform a flight from Ulan-Ude to Changzhou. However, a few minutes after takeoff, the left engine of the Tu-204 caught fire," the report says.

The pilots immediately reported the situation to the airport, subsequently dumping fuel and initiating an emergency landing.

"All airport services were on high alert. As a result, the aircraft safely landed at 8:30 AM local time. There were no injuries reported," according to Baza.

Aircraft issues in Russia

Russia has been experiencing frequent incidents involving aviation, including challenges with domestically produced aircraft such as the "Superjet" facing problems due to sanctions. Pilots have complained about issues with navigation databases.

It's worth noting that sanctions in Russia, affecting the supply of spare parts and aircraft repairs, have even impacted aviation paint. Russian airlines are reportedly facing delays of 3-4 months for obtaining aircraft paint.
