In Poland, a vehicle carrying American military personnel veered off the road, resulting in injuries to two individuals, according to Polsat.

The accident occurred in the Mazovia region of Poland. The vehicle, part of a convoy of American military vehicles, veered off the road and collided with a culvert.

Major Tomasz Wiktorowicz of the Polish military police said that the convoy of vehicles, driven by American soldiers, was in motion when one of them unexpectedly swerved into the opposite lane.

"As a result of the incident, two individuals who were in the vehicle were injured. They are undergoing examinations at hospitals in Grójec and Radom," he said.

The injured servicemen are aged 21 and 22, with one sustaining a hand injury.

Today's accident is part of a series of serious incidents involving military personnel in Poland. The day before, British military vehicles collided in a convoy in Szczecin, resulting in injuries to five soldiers - four men and one woman - who were taken to the hospital with leg and back injuries. Three vehicles were damaged.

Deployment of American military personnel in Poland

The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia on February 24, 2022, significantly heightened security concerns in Eastern Europe. This led to an increase in the military presence of the United States in Poland, as well as in other countries in the Baltic region and Central Europe.

There are approximately 10,000 American military personnel in Poland. They are deployed in combat teams of armored brigade combat teams stationed in Świętoszów and Żagań.

The deployment of American troops in Poland is seen as a deterrent to potential Russian aggression. It also signals the commitment of the United States to the security of its NATO allies.
