Capitulation? Karabakh stops fighting and will discuss reintegration with Azerbaijan
In the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh region, a decision has been made to cease hostilities starting today. The so-called authorities have decided to lay down their weapons and withdraw their forces from the area, according to statements from the unrecognized republic and report.az.
Has Karabakh surrendered?
The statement from the information center of the unrecognized republic mentions that an agreement has been reached for a complete cessation of hostilities starting at 13:00 on September 20, 2023. The deal includes the withdrawal of remaining units and Armenian military personnel from Nagorno-Karabakh, the disbandment and complete disarmament of the "armed formations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army," as well as the withdrawal of heavy equipment and weapons from the territory.
In Nagorno-Karabakh, the so-called authorities have stated that representatives of the local Armenian population will meet with Azerbaijani authorities in Yevlakh on September 21, 2023.
Azerbaijan confirms ceasefire agreement
Azerbaijan has confirmed the agreement on the cessation of hostilities, and the conditions of the agreement essentially amount to the capitulation of Nagorno-Karabakh. Specifically:
- Formations of the Armed Forces of Armenia and illegal Armenian armed formations in the Karabakh region are laying down their weapons, leaving their combat positions and completely disarming.
- Units of the Armed Forces of Armenia are leaving Azerbaijani territory, and Armenian armed formations are being disbanded.
- All weaponry and heavy equipment are simultaneously surrendered.
Notably, the disarmament of Armenian formations in Karabakh and the withdrawal of Armenian military personnel are coordinated with Russian "peacekeepers."
Officially, Baku has confirmed that a meeting between representatives of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani authorities will occur in Yevlakh on September 21, 2023.
During this meeting, discussions will revolve around the issues raised by the Azerbaijani side regarding reintegration, ensuring the rights and safety of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as matters related to the livelihoods of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of the Azerbaijani Constitution.
Meanwhile, information has already emerged in the media that units of the Armed Forces of Armenia located in the Karabakh region have surrendered.

Azerbaijan will provide a corridor for the withdrawal of Armenian Armed Forces personnel
According to Anar Eyvazov, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, conditions are being created for the withdrawal of personnel and voluntary departure from combat positions under the control of Azerbaijani technical means and surveillance.

Within just one day of Azerbaijan officially announcing the start of "counterterrorism measures of a local nature" in Nagorno-Karabakh with the aim of "restoring constitutional order," significant losses have been reported on the side of the unrecognized region.
According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, over 90 combat and strategically essential positions of Armenian military units have come under Azerbaijani control.
As trophies, they report capturing seven military vehicles, four mortars, one tank, 2 BMPs, and a large quantity of ammunition belonging to Armenian forces.
Yesterday, a new escalation of the conflict erupted between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Baku officially announced the start of "counterterrorism measures of a local nature" in Nagorno-Karabakh to " restore constitutional order" and initiated shelling of the territory of the unrecognized republic.
