Why Céline Dion disappeared from the stage
The star has rarely appeared as a singer recently, because of her health condition.
She suffers from Stiff-person syndrome, a disease of the central nervous system characterized by progressive stiffness and painful muscle spasms.
Apart from muscle weakness, there is also increased sensitivity to stimuli such as sound or light and emotional distress.
This syndrome is extremely rare. According to data published by the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, one or two people out of a million suffer from this disease.
Autoimmune disease can often be associated with other diseases: diabetes, thyroiditis, vitiligo
This diagnosis is currently incurable. Taking medications only helps to relieve certain symptoms.
