British intelligence analyzes Russia's advance after capturing Vuhledar
The capture of Vuhledar enabled the Russian army to advance further west in the Donetsk region. The settlement of Velyka Novosilka is now under enemy threat, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.
According to intelligence, the town has been on the front line since 2022 and serves as a cornerstone of Ukraine's defensive line. Ukraine regained part of the territory south of the town during its 2023 counteroffensive.
"Velyka Novosilka is now vulnerable to Russian attacks due to the loss of Vuhledar, 30km to the east, in early October 2024. This enabled increased Russian advances into less well-defended areas in western Donetsk region," the update stated.

Russian losses mount
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces eliminated 1,730 Russian troops in a single day. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost over 742,000 soldiers.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine revealed that in November, Ukrainian defenders struck several rare and costly pieces of enemy equipment, including various types of air defense systems, radar systems, and thermobaric rocket launcher systems.
