Brazil calls for UN Security Council meeting over situation in Israel
The Government of Brazil has condemned the series of explosions and ground attacks carried out by Hamas militants in Israel on October 7. In light of the escalating situation, the government is calling for a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
"The Government of Brazil condemns the series of explosions and ground attacks that occurred today in Israel from the Gaza Strip, resulting in the loss of at least 20 Israeli citizens and leaving more than 500 injured. Brazil expresses condolences to the families of the victims and stands in solidarity with the people of Israel," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
According to the ministry, the Brazilian government calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid an escalation of the situation.
"As the current President of the United Nations Security Council, Brazil will convene an emergency meeting of this body," stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
