Biden won't be able to allocate billions in aid to Ukraine due to time constraints - WSJ
The current President of the United States may not have enough time to provide Ukraine with the promised multibillion-dollar aid before Donald Trump's inauguration, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to the agency, the Pentagon has reached its limit on the amount of weapons it can send to Ukraine each month and is now facing logistical challenges in delivering arms to the Ukrainian military.
Despite this, the White House promised two weeks ago that it would send the full amount by the end of Biden's term, but has now started to backtrack and emphasize the need for mobilizing manpower.
However, the Biden administration is running out of time to use the billions of dollars allocated by lawmakers for Ukraine's armament. The WSJ reports that US officials and Congress have left it up to the newly elected President Donald Trump to decide what to do with the remaining funds.
According to US officials, the administration still has more than $6.5 billion in authority to transfer funds, which allow the Pentagon to send weapons and equipment from its own reserves to Ukraine.
Biden's determination on Ukraine
In recent months, Biden has been focused on strengthening Ukraine's position before Trump, who promised to quickly end the war, will take office.
Among the decisions made are authorization for ATACMS strikes on Russia, the provision of anti-personnel mines, and debt forgiveness. Sources suggest that these moves could help Trump end the war on favorable terms for him while improving Ukraine's negotiating position.
Additionally, we reported that the Biden administration considered publicly calling for an official invitation for Ukraine to join NATO but ultimately decided not to do so.
