US President Joe Biden will attend the inauguration of the next US president in January regardless of who wins the November 5 election, reports Reuters.

“This president (Biden - ed.) believes in the peaceful transfer of power, and that's what you're going to see this president do. It's not about him. It's about the American people. That's what the American people need to see regardless of who wins,” White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre told the media.

She reminded that former presidents regularly attend the inauguration of their successors.

“He certainly is going to partake in that,” the White House spokesperson added.

Trump did not attend Biden's inauguration in 2021

Karine Jean-Pierre did not mention former Republican President Donald Trump's decision not to attend Biden's inauguration in January 2021.

Trump and his wife Melania left the White House before Biden's inauguration, skipping the traditional greeting to the successor and the inauguration.

Presidential election in the United States

The US presidential election will take place on November 5. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump are running for the presidency. Preliminary election results will be announced on November 6.

According to the latest data, Harris has almost lost her advantage over Trump. Reuters poll shows that Kamala Harris' advantage over Donald Trump in the US election race has dropped to 1%. Harris now has 44% of voter support, while Trump has 43%.

According to a poll by The Washington Post and the Schar School, swing states fear violence if Trump loses.
