Biden tells Trump to 'get a life' and stop spreading misinformation about storm
President Joe Biden publicly warned former President Donald Trump on Thursday, advising his predecessor to "get a life" and focus on helping those affected by two devastating hurricanes instead of spreading misinformation about federal response efforts, according to the Associated Press.
Speaking at the White House, Biden condemned the "reckless, irresponsible, and relentless disinformation and outright lies that continue to flow."
The White House and Biden himself spent several days denouncing Trump for false statements regarding disaster response measures, including claims that federal funding was illegally redirected for domestic needs and that such aid was limited to $750. Biden clarified that the $750 refers to emergency assistance covering urgent needs like food, diapers, and infant formula.
"That $750 that they’re talking about, Mr. Trump and all those other people know it’s a lie to suggest that’s all they’re going to get. It’s just bizarre. They have to stop this. They’re being so damn un-American with the way they’re talking about this stuff," Biden stated.
When asked if he plans to speak with Trump to persuade him to stop, Biden replied that he would not, but then delivered a message directly to the cameras: "Mr. President Trump, former President Trump, get a life, man. Help these people."
It’s worth noting that on the night of October 10, Hurricane Milton struck Florida, causing tornadoes, flooding, and inundation. Reports indicate casualties, and millions remain without power due to the storm.
