Unidentified drones continue to fly near New York City in the United States. The federal government is taking additional measures to combat them, reports ABC News.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said the federal government is taking steps to combat drones that are causing concern among New Jersey residents.

“There's no question that people are seeing drones... I want to assure the American public that we in the federal government have deployed additional resources, personnel, and technology to assist the New Jersey State Police in addressing the drone sightings,” he said.

Mayorkas noted that some of these drones are in fact drones, but some others are manned aircraft that are commonly mistaken for drones.

In late November, small UAVs flew over US military bases in Britain.

It has also recently become known that in December, unidentified drones flew over the Ramstein military base in Germany. Drones were also spotted over the facilities of the defense concern Rheinmetall.

Earlier today, runways were even closed at New York Airport because of an unknown drone.
