Biden responds to Duda's call to increase American contingent in Poland
President Joe Biden commented on the call from his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, regarding the increase of the American military contingent in Poland, according to Bloomberg.
“There’s no need for more troops at the Polish border, but I’m meeting with the prime minister tomorrow,” Biden said ahead of a meeting at the White House with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
What preceded it
Yesterday, on March 11, Polish President Andrzej Duda stated that his country wants to increase the number of American military personnel on its territory. The Polish president also said that Warsaw needs more American troops, and more equipment for Ukraine, and guaranteed that Trump's statements about NATO are just empty words.
He also emphasized that NATO member countries should increase defense spending to 3% of GDP.
Overall, as of 2023, there are about 10,000 American troops stationed in Poland.
