Poland wants increased presence of American troops on its soil
Poland wants to increase the number of American military personnel on its territory, according to the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
As reported, before departing for a working visit to the United States on Monday, March 11th, Duda chaired a meeting of the National Security Council.
During the meeting, the Polish president stated that Warsaw needs more American troops, more equipment for Ukraine, and guarantees that Trump's statements about NATO are "just empty words".
Currently, there are about 10,000 American troops stationed in Poland.
Duda will propose NATO members to increase the minimum defense threshold
On Monday, March 11th, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced that NATO member countries should increase defense spending to at least 3% of GDP.
"I want to propose that NATO countries jointly decide that the alliance will require to spend not 2%, but 3% of GDP on defense," he said during the meeting of the Polish National Security Council.
According to him, this should be the limit, below which it is strongly not recommended to go.
He stated that NATO's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine must be clear and bold. The material clarifies that Poland is spending about 4% of its GDP this year to strengthen its Armed Forces.
