Despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's claims of capturing Ukraine in three days, this never happened. He never managed to visit Kyiv, states Joe Biden during a speech at the State Department as part of his closing remarks as US President.

According to Biden, he was the only American commander-in-chief to visit a country at war without a US military presence. He also noted that Putin thought he would capture Kyiv in three days, but since then, it was Biden who stood in the heart of Kyiv, not Putin.

"Putin has failed to achieve any of his strategic objectives. He’s failed thus far to subjugate Ukraine. He failed to break the unity of NATO. He failed to make large territorial gains. We rallied 50 nations to stand with Ukraine. We delivered air interceptors, massive numbers of munitions, enacted sanctions to keep Ukraine in the fight," he stated.

US elections

Although the US presidential election took place two months ago, Donald Trump is still officially the president-elect. However, he will soon officially assume the presidency after the inauguration.

According to the US Constitution, the inauguration ceremony is held on January 20 or, if the date falls on a Sunday, it is moved to January 21.
