Biden extends ban on Russian-related ships entering US ports
President Joe Biden has extended the ban on entry to US ports for vessels associated with Russia, according to the White House website.
Biden has extended the ban related to the war for another year.
"Therefore, in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency with respect to the Russian Federation and the emergency authority relating to the regulation of the anchorage and movement of Russian‑affiliated vessels to United States ports set out in Proclamation 10371," the White House website said.
The ban on entry to US ports for vessels associated with Russia was imposed on April 21, 2022. Exceptions are made for vessels transporting special nuclear or nuclear byproduct materials that may be purchased from alternative suppliers.
US sanctions against Russia
The US regularly imposes sanctions against Russia for its aggressive war in Ukraine and other activities.
