Biden and Xi Jinping to meet at G20 summit
US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping will meet this month. The leaders will visit Rio de Janeiro during the G20 summit, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying.
She noted that the Chinese leader will visit Lima from November 13 to 17 at the invitation of the Peruvian president. Xi Jinping will participate in the 31st meeting of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) economic leaders.
After that, the Chinese leader will visit Rio de Janeiro from November 17 to 21 to attend the 19th G20 summit.
Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's office announced a recent conversation with US President Joe Biden. The American leader confirmed attending the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.
The US and Chinese leaders are expected to hold a bilateral meeting in Rio de Janeiro.

Biden and Xi Jinping last met on November 15, 2023, during the APEC summit in San Francisco.
For the first time, Chinese commentators on the recent US election expressed hope for continued peaceful and mutually beneficial coexistence. Meanwhile, Beijing refused to comment on Donald Trump’s threats to increase tariffs on Chinese goods.
