Approximately 8 out of 10 American voters said that the televised debates between US presidential candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump had little to no impact on their choice, according to a CNN poll.

The survey results revealed that 81% of Americans said the debates did not assist them in deciding on a president. An additional 14% mentioned that the debates made them reconsider some aspects of the candidates but did not change their choice, while 5% of voters said the debates significantly influenced their presidential decision.

Following the debates between current US leader Joe Biden and his opponent Donald Trump, 67% of viewers felt that the Republican candidate outperformed the sitting president. In contrast, 33% believed that Democrat Biden had a better performance.

Prior to the debates, 55% of voters anticipated that Trump would perform better than his opponent, while 45% expected Biden to excel.

US presidential election

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5th of this year. Despite the debates, neither Biden nor Trump has been officially nominated by their respective parties. The Republicans are set to confirm their candidate in July, and the Democrats will do so in August.

According to The New York Times, discussions have emerged within the Democratic Party about replacing Biden with another candidate for the presidential election listing Biden's weak debate performance, his inability to articulate the party's stance, and frequent verbal slip-ups as reasons for this consideration.
