Belarus wants to avoid participation in hostilities against Ukraine
The military and political leadership of Belarus wants to avoid taking part in hostilities against Ukraine. Such sentiments are shared at almost all levels, reports the Center for National Resistance.
In particular, Belarusian representatives of the security forces admit in informal conversations that the Belarusian army is unable to confront the Ukrainian armed forces in the event of a direct military clash.
The reason for this is the lack of sufficient numbers of people and weapons. In addition, the situation is exacerbated by the fact that the country has transferred significant amounts of weapons and ammunition inherited from the USSR to Russia. Another factor is the lack of experience in modern warfare and the unwillingness of the Belarusian Armed Forces to fight against Ukraine.
The successful operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region of Russia has further strengthened the lack of confidence in their own capabilities.
“In off-the-record conversations, direct parallels are drawn between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and those Russian units that provided border defense in the Kursk region,” the CNR noted.
In addition, Belarusians are afraid for their refineries, as they realize that they are completely within the range of Ukrainian missiles and drones, and the Belarusian air defense forces, in turn, have no combat experience. The fear is also caused by the fact that even the Russian air defense forces cannot protect their own refineries from Ukrainian strikes.
A few weeks ago, Belarus began to mass troops to the border with Ukraine. According to the State Border Guard Service, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is doing this under the guise of exercises. In response, Ukrainian border guards are stepping up their defense in the Chernihiv region.
