In Belarus, they released 52 political prisoners at once. All of them already are located in Lithuania, according to the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, on X.

Nausėda informed that the Belarusian regime headed by Alexander Lukashenko took the decision to release at once 52 political prisoners. All of them already crossed the border and are located in Lithuania.

According to the words of the president, among those released were six citizens of Lithuania.

Nausėda noted that, specifically, the assistance of President of the USA Donald Trump played a key role in the release of the people.

At the same time, the Lithuanian leader underlined that this is only the first step, because in Belarusian prisons remain still more than a thousand persons who are held on political motives.

On the eve it became known that the special representative of the American president John Cole arrived in Belarus for a meeting with Lukashenko.

Judging by the latest events, the United States appears to be easing pressure on official Minsk. In particular, lifted were sanctions from the airline Belavia, and also is being considered the question of the return of the embassy of the USA to Belarus.

Previously, before the meeting of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with Trump, the latter conducted by telephone a "wonderful talk" with Alexander Lukashenko. It was reported that they discussed the release of political prisoners and not only.

We add that on 21 June with the assistance of the USA by the Belarusian regime were released a number of Belarusian oppositionists, among whom was Siarhei Tsikhanouski.

Then the release became possible thanks to the visit to Minsk of the special representative of Trump Keith Kellogg. He conducted a meeting with Lukashenko.
