Beautician names two procedures perfect for cold weather
To keep your skin youthful and beautiful for as long as possible, you should do peels and scrubbing. The cosmetologist told us whether it is worth doing such procedures in winter.
Is it worth doing such procedures in winter
According to cosmetologist Daria Tishchenko, it definitely does, but there are a few nuances. In the cold season, our skin needs to be renewed just like in any other season.
Exfoliators and scrubs help to remove dead skin cells so that the nutrients in your skincare products are absorbed better and moisturizing becomes more effective.
To ensure that peels and scrubs do your skin good, follow these rules:
- give preference to professional peels, because you will see the effect of them immediately. It's recommended to do them every 2-3 weeks
- use mild home scrub formulas 1-2 times a week to maintain the result between treatments. It is important that they do not injure the skin and do not break its protective barrier.
Who should not do peeling
Sensitive skin and allergies
If you have sensitive skin, chemical peels may be too harsh. Those with conditions such as rosacea, eczema, or a tendency to redness may experience significant irritation after a peel.
Harsh chemicals can aggravate these conditions, leading to prolonged redness, discomfort, and even worsening symptoms.
Rashes
It may seem counterintuitive, but if you have active inflamed acne, chemical peels can do more harm than good.
People with severe acne or cystic acne should avoid chemical peels as they can further irritate the skin, increase inflammation, and even spread bacteria, potentially worsening the condition.
Dark skin tones
While chemical peels can be beneficial for people with all skin types, those with darker skin tones should be especially careful.
The risk of hyperpigmentation is higher for those with naturally dark skin.
Pregnant or lactating women
Pregnancy is a time when you need to be especially careful about what you put your body through.
Many chemical peels include ingredients that are not recommended during pregnancy. There are gentler, pregnancy-safe skin care treatments that can help you maintain a healthy glow without the risk.
Those taking certain medications
Retinoid-based products make the skin particularly sensitive and prone to irritation.
If you are taking such medications, you should avoid chemical peels as they can cause excessive flaking, scarring, or even infections.
