The Russian subversive group once again tried to break through the border of Sumy region. However, the occupiers failed, reports Yevhen Sylkin, Assistant Commander for Strategic Communications of the Joint Forces Operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"We know that three people were either wounded or killed. But they do not allow us to identify them, because the enemy, hiding behind artillery, is taking them back to the territory of Russia," said Sylkin.

According to him, today's group is the same as all the previous ones. It includes sappers who know how to clear the territory of mines. There are also mortar launchers that are following a little behind.

Yesterday, a Russian subversive reconnaissance group made another attempt to break through the Ukrainian border in Sumy region. It is known that the battle between the Russians and the Ukrainian military lasted more than an hour.

However, having suffered losses, the enemy changed its tactics, divided into two groups, and retreated.

Situation in Sumy region

Recently, the situation in the border area of Sumy region has sharply escalated - not only because of constant shelling but also because of the incessant attempts of Russian saboteurs to break through the Ukrainian border in this area.

Recently, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, said that the greatest activity of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups is recorded on the border with the aggressor country in Sumy region. And this has already been tragically confirmed - on January 27, a Russian subversive reconnaissance group shot dead two people. The house of the deceased is located in the village of Andriivka, located in the 5-kilometer border zone with Russia.

Just on February 3, Sumy region banned car traffic on sections of roads in the 5-kilometer strip from the border with Russia and introduced a recommended traffic regime on other roads by the hour. In July 2023, evacuation was introduced from border settlements located within a 5-kilometer zone from the border with the aggressor country.
