Battle lasted 1.5 hours as Russian subversive group attempts border breakthrough in Sumy region
Russian special forces made another attempt to breach Ukraine's border in the Sumy region on February 3. The enemy changed tactics several times, but after a one-and-a-half-hour battle, Ukrainian forces successfully pushed the occupiers far from the border, according to the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev.
"In the Sumy direction, fighters of the Territorial Defense Forces defending the Northern operational zone successfully thwarted another attempt by an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group to cross the state border of Ukraine," he said.
Details of the attempt by the Russian subversive group
On February 3 at 18:20, approaching the Hlukhiv community, fighters from one of the strongholds observed the movement of an armed group consisting of ten individuals. Ukrainian fighters immediately engaged in a firefight and called in counter-sabotage reserves from their battalion.
"A few minutes into the battle, mortar crews joined, effectively covering the concentration of enemy forces with intense fire," Naiev explained.

Suffering losses, according to the general, the enemy changed tactics, splitting into two groups.
"One, under the cover of their artillery, was evacuating the bodies of the killed and wounded. The second group attempted to flank the stronghold. However, by that time, a counter-sabotage group had arrived at the battle site. The victorious battle lasted for one and a half hours," he stated, adding that the enemy was successfully pushed far beyond the border.
