For nearly two months, the situation around Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region has been intensifying. If the occupiers capture this settlement, they will be able to advance in several directions, including toward the Dnipropetrovsk region, Bohdan Petrenko, head of the communications department of the 48th Separate Artillery Brigade, reported.

According to him, the Russians still need to exert a huge amount of effort to reach the administrative border of the Donetsk region.

Petrenko noted that the Russians' intentions are met with significant resistance from Ukrainian forces, complicating their attempts to move forward. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying enemy personnel during the stages of transportation and deployment.

The brigade representative emphasized that when Ukrainian defenders are on the defensive, they systematically eliminate the enemy's ability to conduct any offensive actions. While Russian reserves are indeed large, they are not unlimited.

"Russians are literally paying for every square meter, for every square kilometer, with the blood of their personnel, which they do not spare," he stated.

It is worth noting that Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region is located near the administrative borders with the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Here, the enemy is attempting to seize logistical supply routes, particularly paved roads.

At the same time, due to the terrain, movement along dirt roads becomes extremely difficult during rains.

The situation at the front

According to the General Staff, 168 combat clashes occurred along the frontline over the past day, with the enemy applying the most pressure in the Pokrovsk direction.

The American Institute for the Study of War reports that Ukrainian Defense Forces have regained previously lost positions near Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and Pokrovsk. At the same time, Russian advances are being recorded in the Kursk region, near Kurakhove, Vuhledar, Velyka Novosilka, as well as near Toretsk and Pokrovsk.
