On the morning of May 6, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Kharkiv. Due to the attack, four districts of the city were affected, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.

During the attack, strikes and falling debris were recorded in:

  • Shevchenkivskyi;
  • Kyivskyi;
  • Kholodnohirskyi;
  • Industrialnyi districts of the city.

According to preliminary data, four people were injured due to the attack. In particular, six fires broke out due to the strike.

Shevchenkivskyi district

Because of the attack, the roof and a room of a private residential building caught fire, covering an area of 400 square meters.

Kyivskyi district

According to the State Emergency Service, stores on the market territory were on fire, covering an area of 500 square meters. Around 90 commercial facilities were damaged. In particular, 20 were completely destroyed by fire.

At another location, a restaurant building caught fire in an area of 700 square meters.

Barabashovo market

According to the Vice President of the AVEC and Co concern, Oleksandr Makarenko, as quoted by the Obiektyv news website, about 90 stores at the Barabashovo market were burned down as a result of the attack. Makarenko added that this was already the second strike in recent months.

"We had started restoring the stores, dismantling the damage. And then there was another strike. It hit the area of the new children's market platform. This is where stores selling children's clothes, toys, and related goods are located. Three blocks were completely burned out - about 90 stores. About the same number of stores were also damaged. These include shattered windows, damaged shutters, and walls," the Vice President noted.

Makarenko also emphasized that the administration is currently assessing the damage from the Russian attack.

Kholodnohirskyi district

The facade of a multi-apartment residential building was damaged. A stall, a building, and three cars caught fire, with a total area of 120 square meters affected.

Industrialnyi district

Due to the attack, a vehicle caught fire over an area of 20 square meters. A production facility was damaged.

Additional details about shelling

According to the Prosecutor's General Office:

  • In the Kholodnohirskyi district, residential buildings and four cars were damaged. Three men aged 44, 59, and 71, and a 52-year-old woman experienced acute stress reactions;
  • In Kyivskyi district, the facade of a residential building was damaged;
  • In Shevchenkivskyi district, a non-residential building was damaged.

"Preliminarily, the reports indicated that the enemy used more than 15 UAVs," the Prosecutor's General Office noted.

Shelling of Kharkiv

Recently, the enemy has intensified shelling of Kharkiv. Russian forces regularly use drones and target civilian infrastructure, posing an additional threat to ordinary citizens. Last night was no exception. As the mayor, Ihor Terekhov, reported, Kharkiv was hit by 20 Shahed drones during the night in four districts of the city, across eight locations.
