Azov representative reveals Russia's shocking torture manuals for Ukrainian prisoners

Russia systematically tortures Ukrainian prisoners of war. Now, Russian soldiers have started spreading special instructions with detailed descriptions of cruel torture methods, said Nestor Barchuk, a representative of the international cooperation department of the 1st Azov Corps, a formation within the Ukrainian National Guard that evolved from the original Azov Brigade.
Barchuk said that Russia not only systematically tortures Ukrainian prisoners of war but also spreads special instructions that clearly describe which cruel methods are considered "more effective."
"Torture and abuse are a deliberate state policy of Russia. We know there are entire manuals shared among places holding Ukrainian prisoners of war. These instructions clearly define which torture methods are 'more effective' and should be used on Ukrainian prisoners," he said.
At the same time, the Azov representative also reminded that, according to the UN monitoring mission, over 95% of Ukrainian prisoners of war are subjected to torture in Russian captivity.
Russian captivity
Yesterday Associated Press reported that more than 200 Ukrainian soldiers have died in Russian captivity since the full-scale war began. According to the publication, many of them died from torture.
One specific case of brutal treatment of prisoners by Russians became known on April 24, when the body of journalist Victoria Roshchyna was returned to Ukraine.
It is known that she was killed in Russian captivity. The exact cause of her death has not yet been determined. However, some media outlets have published investigations into the journalist's death, revealing that her body was returned missing some internal organs.
