How this simple method works

First, you need to cut the fruit lengthwise and carefully separate it into two halves. To avoid using a knife entirely, you can use a regular spoon to cut through the thick skin. After that, take the half with the pit and hold it firmly with your fingers from below.

Next, simply press your thumbs on the skin directly behind the pit. It will pop out easily and very quickly without any extra effort. This simple method is ideal for most ripe fruits.

What to do with firm fruits

This method works best with fully ripe avocados. At this stage, the pit naturally separates from the tender flesh. The trick can also be applied to partially ripe fruits, but you'll need to apply a little more physical effort.

If the pit doesn't budge at all, it's best to let the fruit ripen for a few more days. As a safe alternative, you can try gently prying it out with a metal spoon or gripping it firmly with kitchen tongs.

For better grip, it's also very convenient to wrap the pit in a paper towel before removing it.
