Available in every pharmacy: Affordable vitamin that can shorten cold by two days

Suffering from a cold? Want to recover as quickly as possible? There is a solution. A doctor has named an affordable vitamin that can help you "get back on your feet" faster, the Mirror website reports.
Which vitamin helps recover from cold?
As the winter cold persists, illnesses like colds and flu are rampant. These seasonal diseases can disrupt plans for weeks as people recover and isolate to prevent the virus from spreading.
Dr Amir Khan shared that zinc supplements can speed up recovery by approximately two days.
"If you've got a cold, take zinc. It can reduce the length of your cold by two and a quarter days," said the doctor.
However, there’s one condition: you need to start taking the supplement as soon as cold symptoms appear.
The same study showed that vitamin C can reduce the duration of a cold, but only if the supplement was taken before falling ill. Once symptoms appear, its effectiveness diminishes.
Zinc is naturally found in foods such as seafood, dairy products, eggs, and red meat.
In addition to these supplements, the doctor emphasized that the most effective way to minimize illness duration this winter is to prevent sickness in the first place.
"Hand hygiene is really important because the main way these cold viruses spread is through droplets that can get onto your hand and into your airway. Keep your surfaces clean as well," the expert advised.
