According to the statement from the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, in Kyiv, an assassination attempt was carried out on the Deputy Head of the State Tax Service, Yevhen Sokur. The incident occurred yesterday, August 17, in the center of the capital.
He says that the failed assassination attempt on the Deputy Head of the State Tax Service occurred yesterday, but the police supposedly requested not to disclose any information until morning.
"Yesterday at 07:50 there was an assassination attempt on the Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Yevhen Sokur. The attack in the city center," Hetmantsev writes.
At the same time, he refers to the so-called "scammers" as the organizers, who "lost their business" and "crossed the line."
"Yevhen managed to be saved through coordinated actions of the criminal search unit (referring to the Department of Criminal Search of the National Police)," Hetmantsyev reported, adding that the perpetrators have been detained and are giving testimonies against the organizers.
There is currently no official information from law enforcement agencies regarding the assassination attempt on the official. RBC-Ukraine has reached out to the National Police for a comment.

On the official website of the tax agency, it is indicated that Yevhen Sokur is the acting Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.
He holds the rank of VI in the civil service hierarchy (with I being the highest rank and IX being the lowest).
