Assault on Ukraine's Kostiantynivka fails: Border guards destroy Russian armored vehicles

Ukrainian border guards repelled a Russian assault on Kostiantynivka, the Donetsk region. The enemy attempted to advance using tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Russian forces tried to take advantage of worsening weather conditions to capture Kostiantynivka. They deployed tanks, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, MT-LBs, and more against the city.
However, Ukrainian drone operators from the Phoenix unit successfully struck all enemy targets, preventing the opponent from advancing even a meter.
"FPV drone strikes on enemy equipment were carried out right at the beginning of the assault, after which heavy bombers finished off the enemy’s armored vehicles, which had stalled in the fields of Donbas," the State Border Guard Service reported.
As a result, Ukrainian defenders managed to destroy:
-
One tank;
-
Two armored combat vehicles;
-
One infantry fighting vehicle.
They also hit:
-
Three tanks;
-
Four armored combat vehicles;
-
One airborne combat vehicle;
-
One MT-LB.
In addition, the border guards were able to locate and destroy a cannon, under the cover of which Russian forces were conducting the assault.
Putin’s claims about Kostiantynivka
Just last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that his forces had allegedly entered Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region.
According to him, the city is one of Ukraine’s main defensive lines.
