Europe’s and South America’s strongest national teams, Spain and Argentina, will go head-to-head in the Finalissima next March, according to UEFA’s official website.
When and where the match will take place
Spain, the Euro 2024 champion, and Argentina, the Copa América 2024 winner, will face each other on March 27, 2026.
The match will take place at Lusail National Stadium in Qatar, with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 p.m. (Kyiv time).
The teams had difficulty agreeing on a date, looking for a slot in the busy international calendar. In the end, UEFA and CONMEBOL, together with the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Argentine Football Association, found a date that worked for everyone.
Argentina is the current holder of the Finalissima title. In June 2022, in London, they defeated Italy, the strongest European team at the time, 3-0.

What is the Finalissima
The Finalissima is a football tournament for national teams, played as a single match between the reigning champions of Europe and South America.
Originally, the competition was organized under FIFA in 1985 and 1993 and was called the Artemio Franchi Trophy. After that, it was discontinued.
In 2022, the tournament was revived through the joint efforts of UEFA and CONMEBOL.
Finalissima (Artemio Franchi Trophy) – all finals
-
1985 (Paris): France 2–0 Uruguay;
-
1993 (Buenos Aires): Argentina 1–1 Denmark, 5–4 on penalties;
-
2022 (London): Argentina 3–0 Italy.
In 2026, the match will take place for the first time on neutral ground in Asia. Notably, it was at Lusail Stadium that Argentina won the 2022 World Cup, defeating France in the final (3–3, 4–2 on penalties).
