Apple rolls out iOS 26.4: What’s new for iPhone users

Apple has officially released the iOS 26.4 update, featuring a major improvement to the popular music recognition function in the Control Center. Users can now identify tracks even in areas without mobile connection or Wi‑Fi, according to Gear Patrol.
How Shazam works without the internet
Previously, attempting to identify music through the Control Center without a network would trigger an "No Connection" error on iPhone. In iOS 26.4, this process has become smarter. The system now displays: "Offline music recognition. We’ll find the song once you’re back online."
As soon as the smartphone connects to the internet, the user receives a notification with the track’s title and artist. This eliminates the need for a separate Shazam app, as the feature is now fully integrated into the system.

To add music recognition to your iPhone:
- Open Control Center (swipe down from the top).
- Tap "+" in the top-left corner.
- Select "Add Control" and find "Music Recognition".
Other features in iOS 26.4
Besides music updates, the firmware brings several important improvements:
- Battery health: new ways to monitor battery status and tips to extend lifespan.
- Camera settings: added options for professional photography.
- Apple Music: updated interface and improved recommendation algorithms.
- Emoji: new icons added for messaging apps.
The update is available for all compatible iPhone models. You can check for it under Settings General Software Update. Developers recommend backing up your data to iCloud before installation.
