Residents of Russia’s Belgorod region are complaining about the war launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Defense Intelligence (HUR).

Ukrainian military intelligence intercepted a conversation with a woman who described the apathy and fear that have become part of everyday life for Russians in the border regions.

"You know, it’s just hopeless," the woman admitted, speaking about the constant drone attacks and the feeling of danger.

According to her, the strikes have become so frequent that people no longer know what to expect next, "I was late, basically, and they were launching those (strike drones - ed.) by the dozens somewhere. Can you imagine?! I’m watching one flying and wondering where it will go, what it will do, what it’s targeting."

A resident of the Belgorod region admitted that life under the sound of explosions has become the new "normal", "You live through the day and thank God. That’s how it is for us now. So this is what we’ve come to — well done, good job."

According to Ukrainian intelligence, similar sentiments are increasingly common among residents of Russia’s border regions, who are gradually beginning to realize the consequences of the war unleashed by the Kremlin.

On October 5, Russia complained that a missile strike had been carried out on the Luch substation in Belgorod. The attack caused the substation to catch fire, and most districts of the city faced large-scale power outages.
