Another Russian fake: Ukraine refutes alleged encirclement of one of Ukraine's brigades near Kupiansk

On the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok, videos are actively spreading in which a "soldier" from the 114th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claims that the brigade has allegedly been surrounded by Russian forces near Kupiansk. This is yet another Russian fake, and the video recording was generated by artificial intelligence, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation.
The Center for Countering Disinformation (TsPD) noted that the video is being actively spread not only by users of the Chinese social media platform but also by Russian propagandists. However, in reality, the video is fake and was created using artificial intelligence. There is no encirclement.
"Signs of AI interference include details such as unnatural facial expressions, frequent blinking, and minimal lip movement. Moreover, the 114th Territorial Defense Brigade confirmed to the Center that no encirclement of their units has taken place. The brigade's fighters fully control the situation on their section of the front and continue to effectively eliminate the enemy," the statement said.
The TsPD emphasized that Russian propaganda spreads such fakes to demoralize Ukrainian troops and the civilian population. The Center urges people to trust only verified sources of information.
Notably, recent reports in Western media claimed that Russia is allegedly preparing a new offensive involving 160,000 troops. The TsPD has commented on these materials.
The situation in the Kupiansk direction remains difficult but under control. According to Pavlo Shamshyn, spokesperson for the Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Grouping, the Russian troops are attempting to construct pontoon crossings over the Oskil River to move armored vehicles in preparation for an assault or potential encirclement of Kupiansk.
