Explosion of ammunition depots in Vrbetice, Czechia
On October 16 and December 3, 2014, explosions occurred at ammunition depots in the Czech village of Vrbetice. These explosions claimed the lives of two people and caused damage amounting to over 1 billion crowns.
As early as 2014, Czech First Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamáček said that Czech law enforcement had information about the involvement of Russian spies Aleksandr Myshkin and Anatoliy Chepiga in the tragedy. Both were placed on an international wanted list.
Notably, these same Russian officers carried out the 2018 attack in the United Kingdom on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, poisoning them with the nerve agent Novichok.
Recently, Czech police confirmed that the explosions at the depots were carried out by GRU officers.
