Amazon cargo plane crashes in Miami, killing at least 5

An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo plane crashed while landing at Miami International Airport. Seven people were killed, Reuters reports.
The plane overran the runway, crashed into several cars, and caught fire.
At least five people were killed in the crash, while five others were injured. Three of the injured are in critical condition.
The aircraft was operating Prime Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300. It was operated by 21 Air for Amazon and was flying to Miami from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The crash occurred at around 2:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, September 6. After landing, the plane failed to stop on the runway, left the airport grounds, and collided with cars.
More than 60 rescue units and around 200 emergency personnel worked at the scene. Firefighters also had to deal with a jet fuel leak.
What is known about the plane and the investigation
The pilot and co-pilot initially remained trapped inside the aircraft. Rescuers also reported people trapped in cars after the collision.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the accident. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also reviewing the circumstances of the incident.
Airport operations were temporarily suspended because of the crash. All runways and taxiways were closed, causing flight delays and cancellations. Some airport operations were later resumed.
Amazon said it was shocked by the tragedy and was cooperating with authorities during the investigation.
This is not the first fatal crash involving a Boeing 767 operating flights for Amazon Prime Air. The previous tragedy occurred in 2019.
