Alleged border blockade by Polish farmers, Ukraine comments
Polish farmers have earlier announced protests at the border with Ukraine, but as of November 15, the border remains unblocked, Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reports.
"We do not currently see any (blockade – ed.) at the border, and we have not received any additional information from our Polish colleagues at this time. There were earlier reports that the blockade might begin, but as we can see, these actions by Polish farmers have not taken place," Demchenko stated.
He suggested that Polish farmers might refrain from blocking the Ukrainian border because such actions would also harm Poland.
"This is a threat not only for Ukraine but also for Poland, a loss in terms of transportation of goods and cargo," Demchenko added.
Border blockade
Previously, Polish farmers had announced new protests at the border with Ukraine. The strike was set to run from October 8 to December 31, 2024, at the Medyka – Shehyni border crossing.
