All missiles got through: How Ukraine's air defenses battled Russia's massive attack

Last night, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with various types of missiles and drones. In total, air defense forces neutralized 131 enemy targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
What Russia used to attack Ukraine on September 17:
- Oniks anti-ship missiles from Kursk region;
- Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Bryansk and Voronezh regions;
- 4 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles from the waters of the Caspian Sea;
- 10 Banderol/Dan-T missiles from the airspace over the Sea of Azov;
- 157 Shahed-type attack UAVs (more than half of them were jet-powered) and Parodiya decoy drones from the following directions: Orel, Millerovo in Russia, the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The Ukrainian Air Force said the main targets of the attack this time were Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire teams of Ukraine's Defense Forces were involved in repelling the enemy's air attack.
According to the latest data, as of 8:00 a.m., air defense forces had neutralized 131 targets:
- 7 Banderol/Dan-T missiles;
- 124 Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera drones and UAVs of other types.
The Ukrainian Air Force also confirmed hits by enemy missiles and attack UAVs at 36 locations, as well as the fall of downed targets (debris) at 5 locations.
"The attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow safety rules!" the defenders of Ukraine's skies urged.
It was recently reported that Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets have been forced to conserve missiles during some missions.
